The Anti-Acne market has exploded in recent times due to the success of brands that market an anti-acne kit approach. In many cases, the kit includes a cleanser, a toner and a moisturizer. By being systematic in the approach to fighting acne, cosmetic companies have managed to launch some very high performance products. As anyone with acne prone skin will tell you, performance is everything.
ROSS markets and sells a number of anti-acne ingredients and also has expertise in how to formulate with the best anti-acne ingredients. We have featured two starting formulations 1) Benzoyl Peroxide Facial Cleanser, and 2) Acne Treatment Cream.
We can also offer additional formulation advice:
- If possible, use a high molecular weight surfactant such as Mackanate DC-30, in your cleanser. This will provide adequate cleansing (degreasing) but will not irritate inflamed acne skin. It is the lowest-irritation surfactant available in the cosmetic and personal care industry
- If you use Benzoyl Peroxide - be very selective in your supply choice. Essential Ingredients offers the only USP gel grade BP, Curoxyl BP-42 USP. The product is non-flammable and highly effective.
- Stay current by incorporating new state-of-the-art actives such as Beracare AAA (Anti-Acne Active), an active from the Brazilian Rainforest that is shown, in a 56 day study, to reduce comedones, the precursor to any blemish from a blackhead to a boil. Consider Melafresh T-96, a fraction of Tea Tree Oil with one third the odor profile and five times the anti-microbial effect of standard Tea Tree Oil, which is shown to be an anti-inflammatory as well as a very effective anti-acne agent. Finally, use Canadian Willowherb, well known for its anti-irritancy and anti-inflammatory effects, also has proven anti-acne efficacy.
